Madison Central's Dominique Hawkins Named Gatorade Player of the Year

Madison Central's Dominique Hawkins has been named the 2012-13 Gatorade Kentucky Boys Basketball Player of the Year. Hawkins is the first Indian ever chosen.

The award recognizes athletic and academic achievement. Recipients must also display exemplary character both on and off the court. 

Hawkins led Madison Central to a state championship and averaged 20.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.8 steals per game, earning him tournament MVP honors. He maintained a B average and does volunteer work with special needs students at his school.
