Madison Central's Dominique Hawkins made his move last week for one of the most prestigious awards in a Kentucky High School basketball player's most wildest dream.
Hawkins, fresh off a state championship and Sweet 16 MVP, now waits to see if he will be wearing #1 in the Kentucky/Indiana Basketball All Star Game on June 14th in Freedom Hall.
The other candidates, which include Montgomery County's Omar Prewitt, Trinity's Darryl Hicks, Bullitt East's Rusty Troutman and Derek Willis, have all had a great season and careers many won't soon forget.
It will be hard to overcome the Sweet 16 performance by Dominique Hawkins, who displayed his will to win , his all-around talent and clutch shooting in route to the Indians first basketball state championship.
The Road to Rupp polled followers on the @TheRoadtoRupp twitter account, and the results were overwhelming in favor of Dominique Hawkins:
Dominique Hawkins received 90% of the vote.
Omar Pruitt received 8% of the vote
Derek Willis received 2% of the vote
Now I am sure these totals are skewed because a lot of Madison Central fans are on our timeline, but there were 2 Mr. Basketball Candidates that would vote for Dominique Hawkins as well.

If I were going to pick a Basketball team and these 5 young men were my top candidates. I would have to take Derek Willis # 1. There is not a 6'9 kid in the State with his skill set. He has it all he can shoot the 3 , he blocks shots, he rebounds and can play any postion on the floor. All 5 are great kids and players but Derek Willis in my opinion and most scouts has the best over all skills.
