West Jessamine Overcomes Rough First Half to Beat Burgin in 46th District Tournament


West Jessamine overcame a sub par first half and ran away from Burgin in the 2nd half to go on to a 84-69 win in the first round of the 46th District Tournament at East Jessamine High School.

Burgin outrebounded the Colts 28-16 and shot 52% from the field, while West Jess shot 26%.

The 3rd quarter was a totally different story as the #1 seed outscored the Bulldogs 26-10 and led 56-40 going into the final frame.

That was all West Jessamine needed as they cruised to the win in the 4th quarter. The district favorite shot 61% in the 2nd half and finished at 43% for the game.

The Colts were led in scoring by Chase Fain's 27 points and Daulton Peters had 23.

Burgin was led by Nick Beckerson's 18 points and 10 rebounds. Alex Beckerson had 10 points and 13 boards.

West Jessamine will play Thursday at 7pm vs. Mercer County in the 46th District Championship game at East Jessamine High School.
