Quick, Hicks fuel Trinity in 65-51 win over Lafayette

James Quick and Darryl Hicks combined for 35 points to fuel the Shamrocks in  a 65-51 win over Lafayette. Quick finished with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Hicks added 17 points and 3 rebounds.

The Shamrocks were looking for their 11th straight win, but Lafayette did not look intimidated. The Generals outscored Trinity 31-24 in the first half shooting 48% and limited Trinity's shots. The Shamrocks made just 10 of 33.

Trinity used more physical defense and improved shooting, including 4 three-pointers, to close the gap in the second half.  Trey Ivory helped with 14 points and 4 three-pointers on the night. Trinity took a 50-49 lead with 4:36 remaining in the game. The rest was pretty much all Rocks. Turnovers and late missed free-throws plagued the Generals.

Lafayette had only one player in double-figures. "Mr. Double-Double" Jackson Davis led the Generals with 11 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks. Charles Sweat-Washington and Aaron Evans each had 8 points.

Lafayette next welcomes Henry Clay on Feb. 12 at 8:00 p.m. Trinity travels to face Central on Saturday  at 7:30 p.m.
