Knott County Outlasts Cordia for 53rd District Championship


Knott County survived a big second half run by upstart Cordia to win the 53rd district championship last night.

The Patriots held a 8 point lead at the half, but saw it evaporate in the 3rd quarter as the Lions picked up the pace and their man to man defense. Cordia outscored Knott 18-10 in the 3rd quarter to close within 2.

Camron Justice  led the Patriots with 23 points on 6-11 shooting, 1 for 2 from three and 10-13 from the free throw line. Evan Hall had 15 points and 15 rebounds.

Cordia's Emmanuel Owootoah finished with 24 points on 7-24 shooting, 3-10 from three and 7-7 from the free throw line. He had 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 turnovers. Dondre Warren had 4 ponts and 17 rebounds.
