Green leads Henry Clay in win over Scott Co., forcing blind draw

In a top-ten battle with tournament implications, Henry Clay used solid defense to carve out a win over Scott County 71-51. The victory forces a blind draw with Henry Clay, Scott County and Bryan Station to determine the number one seed in the district tournament.

Junior Jordan Green was recognized prior to the game for obtaining his 1000th point. In keeping with the scoring theme, Green led the Blue Devils with 20 points and 9 rebounds. He also dished out 4 assists and logged 2 blocks and a steal. Christen Cunningham added 15 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists for Henry Clay.

Poor shooting plagued Scott County who shot only 31% from the field. Trent Gilbert also struggled, but led the Cardinals with 19 points and 2 rebounds on 5-18 shooting. Jalen Haddix chipped in 7 points and 5 rebounds.

After a sloppy start including 11 first half turnovers, Henry Clay held on to a 25-17 lead at halftime. The third quarter was all Blue Devils, outscoring the Cards 24-12 to extend the lead to 49-29 heading into the fourth. They never looked back.
