Lafayette Battles Back to Put Away Perry Central in Toyota Classic

The Lafayette Generals used a big second half from junior Jackson Davis to overcome the big first half from Perry Central's Justin Johnson to beat the Commodores 74-70 in the Toyota Classic at Scott County High School.

Jackson Davis had 24 points in the second half to help overcome a 44-34 halftime deficit which was mainly attributed to Johnson's 21 points and 6 dunks.

Perry Central came out on fire, scoring the first 6 points of the contest and seemed to have all the momentum going into the break.

The Commodores obviously had the air let out of them after a Davis dunk in the 3rd quarter and the rest of the Generals picked up momentum outscoring their opponent 21-11.

Perry Central tried to stick around in the 4th quarter, but couldn't find a way to stop Davis, and the Generals went on to improve their record to 10-6.

Davis and Johnson canceled each other out with 30 points a piece. Nick Trisco had 14 points for Lafayette. Dalton Cornett finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Commodores.

The Commodores dropped to 14-4.

Lafayette will now play Covington Catholic in the semifinals tonight at 9pm. Perry Central will play in the consolation bracket vs. Elizabethtown at 5:30.
