Breathitt County and Knott County Post Wins in WYMT Classic



The Breathitt County Bobcats got an ugly 43-40 win over North Laurel in the opener of the WYMT Classic at Perry Central High School last night.

With a 22-17 lead at the half, the Bobcats continued to have a hard time scoring the rest of the game, but got enough to fall through the net to get the victory.

Wes Noble and Alex Hamilton led Breathitt with 12 points a piece.

North Laurel was led in scoring by Kendrick Henson's 12. Breathitt County improved to 8-8 on the season. North Laurel dropped to 9-8.

The Knott County Patriots, one of the favorites to win the WYMT Classic, cruised over Betsy Layne 55-44.

Camron Justice led the Patriots with 16 points and Evan Hall had 10.

The Bobcats were led by Peyton Case's 18 points.

The big quarter for the Patriots was the 2nd, outscoring Betsy Layne 18-8, and ended up being the beginning of the end for Junior Newsome's squad as Knott took a 30-17 lead at halftime.

The Patriots will now face Breathitt County in the semi-finals Friday night at 6:30 at Perry Central High School.
